This Cancellation and Refund Policy ("Policy") outlines the terms under which you may cancel your subscription, donation, or purchase and request a refund for payments processed through Razorpay, our secure payment gateway partner. By using our Platform and making a payment, you agree to this Policy.
This Policy applies to all transactions on RightPost.in, including one-time donations, subscriptions, and any premium content purchases. We reserve the right to update this Policy at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or by posting the updated Policy on our website.
1. Eligibility for Cancellation and Refunds
We strive to process cancellations and refunds fairly and promptly. However, refunds are not automatic and depend on the nature of your transaction:
- Donations: Donations to RightPost.in are voluntary contributions to support independent journalism. As such, they are generally non-refundable once processed, except in cases of accidental duplicate payments or processing errors (e.g., if you were charged twice for the same donation). Refunds for donations are at our sole discretion.
- Subscriptions or Premium Purchases: You may cancel your subscription at any time, but you will retain access to the service until the end of the current billing period. Refunds for subscriptions are available only within our specified window (see Section 3).
General Conditions for Refunds:
- The payment must have been processed successfully via Razorpay.
- Refunds are issued only to the original payment method (e.g., the same UPI ID, bank account, or card used for the transaction).
- We do not refund for content already accessed or downloaded.
- Refunds are subject to verification and may require supporting documentation (e.g., transaction ID or proof of error).
Refunds are not available for:
- Completed or partially consumed services (e.g., if you've read articles under a subscription).
- Changes of mind after the refund window.
- Transactions older than 180 days.
2. Cancellation Process
To cancel a transaction or subscription:
- Log In: Visit your account dashboard on RightPost.in.
- Navigate to Subscriptions/Payments: Go to "My Account" > "Subscriptions" or "Payment History."
- Select Cancellation: Choose the active subscription or transaction and click "Cancel."
- Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation. Cancellations take effect immediately, but no prorated refunds are issued mid-cycle for subscriptions.
For one-time donations, contact us directly (see Section 6) within 24 hours of payment to request cancellation, subject to availability.
Note: Once canceled, subscriptions cannot be reactivated automatically. You may need to re-subscribe.
3. Refund Process and Timeline
If eligible, refunds are processed as follows:
- Submit a Request:
- Use the "Request Refund" option in your account dashboard.
- Or, email us at support@rightpost.in with your transaction ID (from Razorpay receipt), payment details, and reason for refund.
- For disputes, provide evidence (e.g., screenshots of errors).
- Review: We review requests within 3-5 business days. If approved, we initiate the refund via Razorpay.
- Processing via Razorpay:
- Normal Refunds: Processed within 5-7 business days after initiation. The funds will reflect in your bank account or card statement during this period, depending on your bank's processing time.
- Instant Refunds (if enabled): Completed in as little as 2 minutes via IMPS, NEFT, or UPI, for a better experience. A nominal fee may apply for this service (charged by Razorpay).
- Full refunds return 100% of the amount (excluding any applicable taxes). Partial refunds are available for subscriptions (e.g., unused portion).
- Tracking: Once initiated, you'll receive a Refund ID and a unique Reference Number (ARN/RRN) from Razorpay via email. Track your refund status here: Razorpay Refund Tracker (log in with your transaction details).
Refunds are irreversible once processed. If your account balance is insufficient (e.g., due to fees), we may delay until funds are available.
4. Fees and Charges
- Razorpay Transaction Fees: The original transaction fee (typically 2% + GST for domestic payments) is not reversed and is retained by Razorpay. No additional processing fee is charged by us or Razorpay for normal refunds.
- Instant Refund Fee: If you opt for instant processing, Razorpay may charge a small fee (e.g., ₹5-10 per transaction), which will be deducted from the refund amount.
- Bank Charges: Any bank-imposed fees (e.g., for international cards) are non-refundable and borne by you.
- Taxes: GST or other applicable taxes on the original payment are non-refundable.
We do not charge cancellation fees.
5. Legal Compliance and Dispute Resolution
- Indian Laws: This Policy complies with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and RBI guidelines on digital payments. We adhere to Razorpay's source refund policy to prevent chargebacks, ensuring refunds go back to the original payment source.
- Disputes: If unsatisfied, contact us first. For unresolved issues, you may escalate to Razorpay's grievance officer or file a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman.
- Chargebacks: Unauthorized chargebacks may result in account suspension and recovery of fees.
